English Language Course For Private Hire Drivers (TfL)

Since 14th October, 2016 Transport for London (TfL) requires all private hire drivers to satisfy a new English language requirement. This applies to all applications for private hire driver’s licenses both for renewal and new licences.

To comply with the requirement, private hire drivers will either need to pass the English language test with a test provider appointed by TfL or provide a documentary evidence of proficiency in the English language.

A SELT Certificate at B1 level or higher, issued by Trinity College London (ISE I) or IELTS (4.0) showing proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening is accepted by TfL as evidence of meeting the new English language requirement.

The School of English in London (TSEL) offer classes for Trinity College London (ISE I) and IELTS qualifications that prepares private hire drivers to pass these examinations in the shortest amount of time. At TSEL, we teach in small but effective groups and cover all sub-tests including reading, writing, speaking and listening, thus ensuring that you have all the knowledge you need to pass at the first attempt.

At TSEL, we offer:

Free initial assessments
Clear guidelines and computer based training
Small class sizes
Qualified and experienced Teachers who are well motivated
Mock tests in preparation of the exams
Excellent pass rates
